I was copied on an email sent to the mayor, and council members.
I live at <REDACTED> in Redondo Beach in a house I have owned for 12 years. I just watched a Podcast at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1obrQp3Vt3g and visited a website referenced of www.greenredondo.com
My neighbor has a series of trees that have grown together and are well beyond the city ordinance of 6 feet, and I am thankful to him. These trees provide my family privacy from the neighbors and a beautiful feeling of nature. Please don’t misunderstand this as being unneighborly. I like my neighbors and we have a mutual respect. That being said, we don’t want to be looking into each other’s windows. Furthermore, the trees also provide us some sound privacy.
I am hoping that the city will use common sense and repeal this antiquated law (the website lists 10-2.1524(b)(1)(b) RBMC) that apparently no one follows. I looked at many houses as I was driving, and it is almost as easy to find houses that violate this law as it is to find ones that do not. I fear that the prosecution of this person, Andre, that is on the Podcast will open the flood gates in which we will being seeing our neighbors throughout the city suffering the repercussions. Although I would not be on the list of violators, my neighbor would have to cut down the beautiful trees providing us the privacy we would like in a house that is worth well over $1 million.
